Last updated: April 4, 2026
Overview
Relativity is an AI-powered estimation and forecasting app for Jira Cloud, built on Atlassian Forge. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it’s used, and how it’s protected.
Data We Access
Relativity accesses the following Jira data through the read:jira-work scope:
- Epic issues returned by your JQL query (key, summary, status, labels, components, story points, resolution date)
- Child issues of those epics (status, story points, status transition dates)
- Jira field metadata for auto-detecting story point fields
- User permissions to determine admin status
We do NOT access:
- User emails or personal information
- Jira comments content
- Attachments or files
- Issues outside your JQL query scope
- Data from other Atlassian products
How We Use Your Data
All data processing happens within your Atlassian Forge environment. Relativity uses your Jira data to:
- Detect natural effort bands using AI-powered analysis
- Calculate Epic Cycle Time from child issue status transitions
- Compute complexity scores from issue metadata
- Generate delivery forecasts based on historical patterns
- Provide AI recommendations for improving estimation
Data Storage
- Saved analyses are stored in Atlassian Forge Key-Value Storage (KVS), which is scoped to your Jira instance
- No data is sent to external servers — all computation runs within Forge
- No data is shared with third parties
- Recent JQL queries are stored in your browser’s localStorage for convenience (never sent externally)
Data Retention
- Saved analyses persist until you delete them or uninstall the app
- Ephemeral analyses (free tier) are not stored — they exist only during your session
- Uninstalling the app removes all stored data from Forge KVS
Security
- Read-only Jira access — Relativity cannot modify your Jira data
- All API calls use Atlassian’s
asUser() authentication — respecting your Jira permissions
- Admin-only settings are enforced server-side via Jira permission checks
- No credentials or tokens are stored in the app
Third-Party Services
Relativity does not use any third-party services, analytics, or tracking. There are no external API calls, no telemetry, and no cookies beyond what Atlassian Forge provides.
Your Rights
- You can delete any saved analysis at any time
- You can uninstall the app to remove all stored data
- You can clear browser localStorage to remove recent query history
